According to Xinjiang Daily, on October 4, 2023, 1200 tons of imported coal from Kyrgyzstan entered the Irkeshtan port and was unloaded into the public bonded warehouse of Xinjiang COSCO Nanjiang Coal Storage and Distribution Co., Ltd. under customs supervision. This is the first imported coal in the southern Xinjiang region to enter the bonded warehouse and also signifies the official operation of the first bonded warehouse for coal storage and distribution in southern Xinjiang.
The public bonded warehouse of Xinjiang COSCO Nanjiang Coal Storage and Distribution Co., Ltd. is currently the first public bonded warehouse located at a border port in the southern Xinjiang region approved and accepted by Urumqi Customs. The planned area is about 200 acres, with a static coal storage capacity of 400000 tons and an annual coal throughput of 5 million tons.
With the deepening of the construction of the "the Belt and Road", Xinjiang COSCO Nanjiang Coal Storage and Distribution Co., Ltd. has invested in the construction of six large and medium-sized coal mines in Kyrgyzstan and Tajikistan, and three of them are within 200 kilometers of Turgat Port or Irkeshtan Port.
